How Mountain hare are evolving with their environment

Mountain environments, which are the natural habitat of Arctic-Alpine species, are undergoing dramatic changes due to climate change. As a result, these specially adapted species are truly on the front lines of climate change. In order to understand the changes taking place as well as the way the species are adapting, CREA Mont-Blanc is participating in a vast monitoring program that aims to observe these “white species” across the French Alps. This article, which will be the first in a series, focuses on the Mountain hare.
